About Trio New College Network

A college degree can transform lives, opening doors to career advancement, economic mobility, and new opportunities. Yet for many working adults, traditional higher education remains out of reach because of cost, inflexible schedules, and limited support.

Trio New College Network is changing that. We partner with communities to create affordable, accelerated degree pathways supported by personalized coaching and wraparound services that help adult learners enroll, persist, and graduate.

As our network grows, we're looking for a systems-minded leader who can help us build the data infrastructure that powers our mission.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Director of Data & Systems to lead the ongoing development of our data systems, reporting, and HubSpot environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building practical solutions, improving processes, and helping teams use technology more effectively.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll serve as Trio's primary HubSpot administrator while partnering with colleagues across enrollment, coaching, and operations to improve workflows, strengthen reporting, and ensure leaders have reliable information to make better decisions.

What You'll Do

You'll help Trio scale by:

  • Serving as the primary administrator for HubSpot and related systems
  • Improving workflows, automation, reporting, and system integrations
  • Building dashboards that support enrollment, coaching, and organizational performance
  • Strengthening data quality and documentation across the organization
  • Reducing manual processes and improving operational efficiency
  • Training and supporting staff to confidently use systems and data
  • Partnering with leaders to translate data into actionable insights

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • 5+ years of experience in CRM administration, data systems, analytics, operations, or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with HubSpot, including workflows, reporting, automation, and dashboards
  • Experience improving systems and processes across multiple teams
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to organize and interpret data from multiple sources
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and a passion for continuous improvement
  • A commitment to expanding educational opportunity and economic mobility

Experience in higher education, workforce development, nonprofit organizations, or multi-site organizations is a plus but not required.

Today, Trio operates in Michigan and Connecticut and is expanding its national footprint. We're looking for an entrepreneurial Executive Director to lead our Michigan program—Degree Forward—and help shape the next chapter of our growth.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to lead and grow a high-impact organization that is changing lives across Michigan.

As Executive Director, you will provide strategic leadership for Degree Forward while serving as Trio's primary leader and ambassador in the state. You'll oversee program operations, build and develop an exceptional team, cultivate community partnerships, and lead local fundraising efforts that ensure long-term sustainability.

We're looking for a leader who enjoys building—someone who can think strategically while remaining deeply engaged in execution. You'll work closely with Trio's national leadership while having significant autonomy to strengthen and expand our Michigan impact.

What You'll Lead

Organizational Leadership

  • Set the strategic vision and direction for Degree Forward in Michigan.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, mission-driven team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, equity, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Trio's national leadership to advance organizational priorities.

Program Growth & Operations

  • Ensure exceptional program quality and strong learner outcomes across multiple sites.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, budgets, systems, and performance management.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-informed decision making.
  • Lead expansion into new Michigan communities over time.

Fundraising & Financial Sustainability

  • Serve as the lead fundraiser and external ambassador for Trio in Michigan.
  • Build and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes individuals, foundations, corporate partners, and public funding.
  • Cultivate and steward major donor and institutional relationships.
  • Partner with national leadership to secure philanthropic investments and achieve long-term financial sustainability.
  • Engage and activate the advisory board to expand philanthropic support and community relationships.

Community Leadership & Partnerships

  • Build trusted partnerships with employers, community organizations, colleges, and civic leaders.
  • Serve as the public face of Degree Forward throughout Michigan.
  • Strengthen Trio's visibility, reputation, and impact across the state.
  • Recruit, develop, and engage a high-performing local advisory board.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, mission-driven executive who combines strategic leadership with operational excellence.

Qualifications include:

  • 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, education, workforce development, or another mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, managing complex initiatives, and delivering measurable results.
  • Significant experience building partnerships, cultivating stakeholders, and representing an organization externally.
  • Proven fundraising experience, including securing philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, corporations, or public sources.
  • Strong financial and operational management skills.
  • Experience growing programs, organizations, or multi-site initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and leadership abilities.
  • Deep commitment to educational equity, economic mobility, and serving working adult learners.
  • Knowledge of Michigan communities and statewide networks is preferred.
